Carolina joined UTM (then IFT) in 2005 and is currently a lecturer at the Institute of Executive and Professional Development (IEPD). Over the years, she has developed workshops, courses, and programmes for individuals across various occupations, proficiency levels, and learning needs, collaborating with partners from the hospitality industry, government departments, and secondary schools to enhance learners’ English proficiency and work skills.
As a Delta-qualified English teacher, Carolina has extensive experience in teaching, course development, and bespoke course design for diverse contexts. She specializes in English for Specific Purposes, including Business English, English for Occupational Purposes and English for Academic Purposes, and also prepares students for international qualifications like IELTS and the TOEIC® Listening and Reading Test. She is also a certified TEA (Test of English for Aviation) examiner, facilitating the English proficiency assessments for pilots and air traffic controllers in Macao.
Beyond language teaching and assessment, Carolina’s expertise extends to professional development training, focusing on work skills such as communication and intercultural awareness. Since 2021, she has also served as a WorldSkills Hotel Reception trainer and has been involved in organising selection competitions for the Macau representatives at the 46th, 47th and 48th WorldSkills Hotel Reception Competitions.
In addition to her teaching and training roles, Carolina has a strong interest in Macanese culture, social interactions, and linguistics. These interests, developed during her undergraduate and postgraduate studies, have enriched her professional perspective and contributed to her development of discourse-focused, pragmatic-driven content.
