Creative Director of Ieng Chi Dance Association Gives Talk on Performing Arts to IFTM Students

The Creative Director of Ieng Chi Dance Association, Ms. Chloe Lao Cho Wa, was recently a guest lecturer at IFTM. The lecture was divided into 2 sessions held at separate locations, which focused on the performing arts in Macao and management of a dance company. It took place on 21 September.

IFTM Lecturer Mr. Kelvin Leong Ka Hou hosted the event. It was put on for Year 3 and Year 4 students attending the Art and Administration and Management course.

Ieng Chi Dance Association is a non-profit organisation based in Macao and established in 1998. Its mission is to promote dance and performing arts, achieving the goal of art sharing, and bursting the creativity and beauty of contemporary dance.

Ms. Lao is the creative director as well as a choreographer of Ieng Chi Dance Association. She has rich experience on dance company management.

The first session of the guest lecture took place at the Silver Jubilee Building on the Taipa Campus. Its theme was performing arts, with Ms. Lao focusing her presentation on performing arts around different cities as well as Macao. According to her, the expression of the performing arts has been diversified nowadays.

The “Wonder.Land”, “Heritage Stroll with Poetries”, and “ROLLOUT Dance Film Festival” in Macao were the three main case studies presented by Ms. Lao during the first session of the presentation. It helped her to emphasize the representation of performing arts has already been developed into different ways in a lot of places and Macao, it is more than just a performance to the audience, but most importantly having them involved in it.

The second session of the guest lecture took place in the studio of the Ieng Chi Dance Association. The theme of this session was dance company management, in which Ms. Lao led a workshop involving the students to increase the knowledge of different dance genres and dance organis     ation management.

The 2-session guest lecture presented students with a unique opportunity to visit a facility operated by a non-profit organization in order to understand the genres of performing arts and dance company management in Macao.
