Student clubs together to host Greater Bay Area musical extravaganza

中文摘要 / Summary in Chinese

Two IFTM student clubs have jointly staged a musical exchange with contributions by students at the Institute and 9 other tertiary education institutions in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, also called the Greater Bay Area.

The event on 16 November was a celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao SAR. The IFTM Music Society and the IFTM Event Club arranged the musical exchange, with help from the IFTM Student Union and the Institute.

On the programme were 15 performances by 40 students in front of an audience of more than 100 people. The performers came from IFTM, the University of Macau, Macau University of Science and Technology, Sun Yat-sen University, Jinan University, South China Normal University, South China Agricultural University, the Southern University of Science and Technology, Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Shenzhen University.

This event was a first for IFTM. The Institute had never before invited students from the institutions in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance to participate in a musical exchange in Macao. The Alliance was formed in 2016 and IFTM is a founding member.

IFTM Music Society President Phoebe Wai says the event was a success with benefits for everyone involved. While students from Guangdong Province learned more about Macao, students from Macao were able to deepen their understanding of the Greater Bay Area, putting them in a better position to contribute to national development.
