His contest success was another example of how IFTM extracurricular activities can help undergraduates to advance their knowledge and sharpen their skills<\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>IFTM student Nick Yiu Tin Ian showcased his culinary prowess by securing the runner-up position in the 2023 Young Chef Competition, organised by the Macau Culinary Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The contest had a total of 10 finalists. Three other IFTM undergraduates \u2013 Eva Leong I Lam, Johnny Ieong Man Kin, and Jennie Huang Wenyi \u2013 were all placed joint third.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The culinary showdown provided a chance for the budding chefs to gain valuable insights into the culinary sector and elevate their skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The results announcement and awards ceremony took place at a charity dinner at the Sheraton Grand Macao hotel on 20 October, hosted by the Macau Culinary Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The association\u2019s contests, including the&nbsp;Young Chef Competition,&nbsp;aim to encourage emerging talent, while also contributing to the overall growth of the city\u2019s culinary&nbsp;sector. The events create a platform for aspiring chefs to refine their skills, explore their creativity, and connect with industry professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the Young Chef Competition&#8217;s rules, each participant had 120 minutes to create a 3-course meal, consisting of a seafood-based starter, a main course featuring lamb, and a fruit-based dessert. Two servings of each course were requested of the participants by the judges: one for them to taste and assess flavours, and one to be reviewed in terms of presentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The upper age limit for participants was 24 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>IFTM encourages students to be involved in extracurricular contests.
