The Institute is steadfastly embracing a more sustainable future. Following the acquisition of its first electric vehicle and a decision last year not to buy plastic cutlery and takeaway food boxes, IFTM is now exploring energy-saving opportunities for its facilities<\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/em><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

In a bid to further its commitment to environmental sustainability, IFTM has outlined a comprehensive set of \u2018green\u2019 objectives for 2024. Drawing on its experience from related achievements in previous years, the Institute plans this year to introduce measures ranging from energy-efficiency promotion to fostering the use of electric vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IFTM is to explore new opportunities for energy saving in its buildings placing particular emphasis on the Mong-H\u00e1 Campus. The Institute will actively participate in an energy audit pilot project led by the Environmental Protection Bureau, that will assess and make recommendations regarding energy-saving measures for the facilities at the Mong-H\u00e1 Campus. The latter has been in operation for over two decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of its commitment to creating an eco-friendly campus, IFTM will incorporate \u2018green\u2019 elements into the requirements for all major construction or renovation projects at the Institute, ensuring sustainable practices in future developments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2024 objectives also encompass initiatives designed to raise awareness of sustainability and eco-friendly approaches to students of all stages of study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The drive towards a \u2018green\u2019 IFTM is led by the Institute\u2019s Environmental Management System Committee. The committee\u2019s campaigns over the years have yielded tangible outcomes, including noteworthy reductions in food waste production, and paper and print ink usage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IFTM\u2019s operations have been ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System certified since 2016, underscoring the Institute’s ongoing commitment to environmental standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IFTM has a history of achieving its annual environmental sustainability goals. In 2023, the Institute halted the acquisition of plastic cutlery and takeaway food boxes, contributing to its ongoing commitment to reduce plastic usage. Simultaneously, the Institute\u2019s campuses saw an increase in green coverage, with every office meeting the target of having a \u2018plant corner\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A highlight in IFTM\u2019s sustainability calendar is the annual \u2018Healthy and Green Month\u2019, inaugurated in 2012. Coordinated by the Environmental Management System Committee, last year\u2019s activities engaged over 2,300 participants. A workshop on \u2018upcycling\u2019 used flour bags from the Institute\u2019s Educational Restaurant into cutlery and stationery bags stood out as a key feature of the Green Week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
