T\u00e9cnico-Profissional, are now having some of their works displayed at the Team Building, on IFT\u2019s Mong-H\u00e1 Campus.<\/p>\n<p>Approximately 140 works \u2013 including paintings, posters, computer-assisted drawings and photos \u2013 are featured in the exhibition \u201cCreativity in Spring II \u2014 An Exhibition of Student Works\u201d, running until 31 July. It started on 30 April.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2009, IFT\u2019s Tourism and Hotel School and Escola Luso-Chinesa T\u00e9cnico-Profissional have been jointly organising a graphic design programme. It aims to train new professionals for the city\u2019s cultural and creative industries, and actively to promote education in the field of the arts.<\/p>\n<p>Escola Luso-Chinesa T\u00e9cnico-Profissional is a Macao Government-run secondary school. It offers professional programmes in a wide range of technical fields.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis exhibition includes a collection of works by many students. The hope is that the exhibition will encourage them to strive for continuous improvement, as well as increasing awareness among the public regarding the abundance of burgeoning local talent in the arts, and in cultural and creative industries,\u201d says IFT President Dr. Fanny Vong.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Vong says part of the mission of IFT is to assist in Macao\u2019s economic diversification. The IFT Tourism and Hotel School has met that objective by expanding the courses it offers in creative fields. The availability of these courses helps people in the Macao community to increase their skills and contribute to the development of local cultural and creative industries, as envisaged by the Macao SAR Government.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, IFT makes regular contributions to culture and the arts in Macao by holding art exhibitions at the Mong-H\u00e1 Campus and at the IFT Caf\u00e9, which is part of Anim\u2019Arte Nam Van, on the Nam Van Lake waterfront. Admission to the exhibitions is free. Some exhibitions show the work of Macao artists that teach at the IFT Tourism and Hotel School, and the work of the students they teach.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Pun Vai Nim, Vice Principal of Escola Luso-Chinesa T\u00e9cnico-Profissional, praises the partnership with IFT. He says the programme on graphic design greatly helps students to improve their skills in this field. Mr. Pun adds that, by exhibiting their works at the Team Building, students can gain first-hand experience of how to prepare and hold an exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>The Graphic Design Programme is a 3-year secondary school programme, covering grades 10 to 12. Under the partnership, IFT provides instructors and other resources to teach students various subjects related to graphic design, from basic design principles to drawing and illustration, and photography and advertising design.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Tina Fu is the Coordinator for Creative Studies and IT Courses at the IFT Tourism and Hotel School. She is one of the IFT instructors engaged in the Graphic Design Programme jointly offered with Escola Luso-Chinesa T\u00e9cnico-Profissional. Ms. Fu explains that, as part of the programme, students have classes at the IFT Taipa Campus 3 times a week, attending courses related to graphic design.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter completing this 3-year professional training programme, we hope students can work as graphic design assistants, or further their studies\u201d in the discipline, by attending a related bachelor degree programme, she says.<\/p>\n<p>One of the students showing works at the exhibition is Pang Ka Io. \u201cThe [Graphic Design] Programme is much more interesting to me than other, regular secondary school programmes, as I am interested in arts,\u201d she says. \u201cThis definitely has helped me develop my skills,\u201d the student adds. She plans to further her studies in graphic design after graduating from secondary school.<\/p>\n<p>Lam Heong Tong has a drawing shown at the exhibition.
