{"id":3737,"date":"2018-06-06T10:52:50","date_gmt":"2018-06-06T02:52:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www2.ift.edu.mo\/NewsPortal\/?p=3737"},"modified":"2018-06-06T10:59:23","modified_gmt":"2018-06-06T02:59:23","slug":"ift-team-secures-podium-spot-in-regional-marketing-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.utm.edu.mo\/NewsPortal\/ift-team-secures-podium-spot-in-regional-marketing-competition\/","title":{"rendered":"IFT team secures podium spot in regional marketing competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<span class='pum-trigger  popmake-3739  text-center font-blue' data-do-default=''>\u4e2d\u6587\u6458\u8981 \/ Summary in Chinese<\/span>\n<p>A team of IFT students claimed third place in the \u201cNovotown University Business Case Competition 2018\u201d, a marketing competition held by a unit of Hong Kong\u2019s Lai Sun Group.<\/p>\n<p>Participants were required to present a 6-month marketing plan to promote Novotown, a multi-phase integrated tourism and entertainment project under development in the neighbouring Hengqin Island, in Guangdong Province. The main target market for each plan was young people and families from the Greater Bay Area.<\/p>\n<p>The proposal produced by the 5-member IFT team was praised for its creativity and its feasibility in terms of implementation.<\/p>\n<p>More than 180 participants \u2013 spread across 42 teams \u2013 joined the competition. An aggregate of 9 Greater Bay Area higher education institutions were represented.<\/p>\n<p>Only 6 teams were selected to contest the final, which took place on 22 April, at the Zhuhai International Convention and Exhibition Center, in Macao\u2019s neighbouring city, Zhuhai. The other teams in the final were drawn from, respectively, the Zhuhai College of Jilin University, Jinan University, Sun Yat-sen University, the University of Macau, and Macau University of Science and Technology.<\/p>\n<p>The team from IFT \u2013 called \u201cRocky N\u2019Girls\u201d\u2013 proposed the use of flash mob events and of street-based virtual reality experiences to draw visitor interest to Novotown.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe proposed a \u2018virtual reality challenge\u2019 that could simulate the experience of visiting Novotown,\u201d says team leader Rocky Cheong. He is in Year 4 of a Bachelor of Science in Tourism Event Management.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also suggested inspiring people to post in social media funny videos of them enjoying the virtual reality experience activity,\u201d he adds. \u201cThe aim was to promote a positive public perception of Novotown.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The IFT team won a RMB3,000 cash prize and a trip in June to visit the operations of Taiwan-based healthcare group Sanitas. The firm will run a Sanitas-branded healthcare and beauty treatment centre at Novotown.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the top-3 teams at the \u201cUniversity Business Case Competition 2018\u201d are also eligible to take part directly in the interview stage of the selection process for Novotown\u2019s management training programme, which allows participants to work in different positions on the project.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A team of IFT students claimed third place in the \u201cNovotown University Business Case Competition 2018\u201d, a marketing competition held by a unit of Hong Kong\u2019s Lai Sun Group.
