On 27 November 2024, UTM hosted a seminar on " The Relationship between Local and International Major Sports Events and the People of Macao" for students enrolled in the Tourism Event Management (Chinese medium) programme, featuring Mr. Tam Iao San, Senior Executive Editor of Sports Department at TDM.
Mr. Tam shared his extensive experiences in sports journalism, offering insights into both international and local sport events. He discussed the significance of these events for the people in Macao, highlighting their cultural impact, economic benefits, and the role in enhancing Macao's international image. Mr. Tam emphasized that as major sports events become more frequent, Macao has emerged as a prominent venue for international sports, strengthening its cultural identity and social cohesion while facilitating cultural exchange.
He noted that these events significantly boost the local economy by attracting both domestic and international tourists, benefiting sectors like hospitality and dining. Moreover, they inspire youth participation in sports, fostering teamwork and competitive spirit.
