A group of second-year students who were takeing the course - Club Management from bachelor’s degree programmes (Chinese medium), led by course lecturer Dr. Alison Liu Fengping, visited the wellness facilities at Studio City Macao. Melissa Chung, Director of Spa and Leisure at Macao’s Studio City integrated resort introduced students on the innovative designs and safety measures of the facilities. This opportunity allowed the students to learn about the current offerings of the hotel’s leisure and wellness services, the innovative design of the facilities, the safety measures, and how they integrate with sustainable practices.
Studio City has a space-themed indoor park, featuring 16 exciting attractions, such as a water roller coaster and surf simulator. Moreover, it has recently collaborated with the Hello Kitty 80th Anniversary Party to attract more visitors.
During the visit, Ms. Chung emphasized the safety management inside the hotel, for example, daily facility checks (such as AED emergency equipment), and autism awareness training for all staff, which lead to getting the hotel’s certification as an Autism-Friendly Center. She also highlighted Studio City’s commitment to sustainability, showcasing initiatives like water recycling systems, plastic reduction measures, and the introduction of electric shuttle buses, reinforcing the company’s strong environmental responsibility.
Ms. Chung and her team guided the UTM students, providing in-depth insights into guest experience management, while broadening their perspectives on future collaborations in the hospitality industry. At the end of the visit, Ms. Chung generously gifted each student a ticket to the water park, allowing them to experience the customer journey firsthand. This initiative enabled students to better understand the service standards of the park while gaining valuable insights into current market demands and visitor expectations.
