Macao University of Tourism organized a guest lecture for students in the Master of Science programme in Luxury Hospitality and Health Services Management, and invited Mr. Gregorio Thio, former Club Marketing Vice President of Membership at Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace, and currently Managing Director of Ink Ocean Consulting. Mr. Thio has over 15 years of experience in market analysis and business management. He shared insights on the development trends and challenges facing the luxury industry. The lecture covered the definition and evolution of luxury, the importance of service levels in branding, emotional value, and the opportunities and challenges present in the industry.
Mr. Thio pointed out that the definition of luxury is no longer limited to product appearance and brand recognition, but has shifted toward a pursuit of service details and personalized experiences. Using Wynn Macau as an example, he explained how high-end membership services and meticulous management can enhance customer satisfaction, emphasizing the critical role of emotional value and identity in brand success.
In an environment of increasing competition and market changes, luxury brands must proactively respond. Mr. Thio analyzed that the future development of the luxury industry will rely on innovative thinking, digital transformation, and highly personalized service design to meet the new generation of consumers' desire for unique experiences.
Lecturer James Wong stated that Macau's leisure enterprises place great emphasis on brand building and customer experience optimization. Through insights from seasoned management professionals, students can better understand how to apply theory to practical business, truly achieving the goal of learning for application.
At the end of the lecture, students actively asked questions and engaged in in-depth discussions with Mr. Thio to understand the practical details and market trends of the luxury industry. Many students expressed that this event helped them gain a clearer understanding of the operational logic behind luxury brands and inspired their future career planning.
