Guest Lecture on China and International Exhibition Markets and Demand

To deepen students' industry knowledge of the MICE sector, Macao University of Tourism held a seminar in March 2026 titled "Overview of China and International Exhibition Markets and Demand." An industry expert was invited to share the latest developments and trends, helping students broaden their professional perspective and better prepare for future careers.

The seminar featured Mr. Leo Leung, General Manager (South China) of SYMA Asia Group, and was coordinated by lecturer Ms. Ishtar Chan. Drawing on nearly 30 years of experience, Mr. Leung outlined the role and responsibilities of exhibition contractors, explained the differences between trade shows and consumer expos, and analyzed industry planning in key exhibition cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

Mr. Leung also highlighted current challenges facing the industry, including market homogenization and relatively low adoption of international certifications, and discussed the development potential and opportunities for the MICE industry in the Guangdong‑Hong Kong‑Macao Greater Bay Area. Students engaged actively with questions during the session, creating a lively and informative discussion.
