On 29 April 2026, Safa Rodas of Melco Macau, a member of the Young Chef Programme 2026 Cohort, delivered a guest lecture on the theme of "Sustainability in Action" to Year 4 culinary students at UTM under the Contemporary Issues in Culinary Arts course taught by Dr. Christy Ng.
Rodas shared her professional journey and insights from years in the global hospitality and culinary industry. She completed her Bachelor's Degree in International Hospitality Management, with a specialization in Culinary Arts, at Enderun Colleges, before gaining work experience in Paris, New York, and Macau.
For the past seven years, Rodas has been part of Melco Resorts and Entertainment, where she currently oversees kitchen operations at L'attitude at Morpheus and Aurora at Altira. Beyond her leadership in the kitchen, she is also recognized as a sustainability advocate and ambassador through the World Food Forum's Young Chef Program. During her session with the students, Rodas emphasized the importance of embedding sustainable practices into the culinary profession. She highlighted the need for future chefs to go beyond technical excellence and embrace responsibility, innovation, and purpose in their work.
Rodas said her vision is to nurture the next generation of chefs with a sustainable and proactive mindset, ensuring continued progress in the industry through value-driven and intentional practices. Her talk served as both an inspiration and a call to action for aspiring chefs to help shape a more responsible and forward-looking culinary industry.
