Inaugural batch of master’s students host seminar on insomnia

The Master of Science in International Events Management (English medium) programme was launched in this academic year. As part of the course requirements of Design and Development of Professional Live Events, students are required to conceptualise, plan and implement a professional event aimed at the general public on a contemporary topic.

Under the guidance of the course facilitator Dr Ubaldino Couto, the first batch of students organised the ‘Good Sleep Every Night Insomnia Healing Seminar’ with a line up of experts related to sleep:  Ms. Cecilia Wong, Mr. George Chiu, Dr. Pun, and Ms. Anne Iao. The event started with a keynote address so all participants are aware of what insomnia is and why is it a health issue. The guests then participated in an in-depth exchange and fruitful discussion of ways to mitigate insomnia. Finally, participants were divided into three interactive workshops to learn about some skills and techniques to help alleviate insomnia, namely, health drink, singing bowl and traditional Chinese medicine.

The students are indebted to the generous support of the following entities: Praise Beauty & Art Studio, Traditional Medical Society of Macao, and Macao Nutrition Exchange Association. The event provided participants with knowledge and hands-on ways of improving sleep, and students were able not only to conduct the whole event planning, designing and development of the programme, inviting guests and coordinating with the speakers, and ultimately hosting the event.
