Three Macao University of Tourism (UTM) students will compete in The Left Bank Bordeaux Cup and will have the opportunity to represent Macao SAR, China in the finals. This is an international student competition for universities around the world. Competitors from North America, Asia and Europe will challenge the students from the best French universities on Bordeaux wine knowledge and blind tasting skills in the finals held at Lafite-Rothschild castle in June.
All members of the UTM team are from the Wine Appreciation Club, an affiliate of the UTM Student Union, including President Diana Shiwen Zeng from the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Event Management programme, Vice President Rain Kuan Fu Wong and Alan Guanhong Pan from the Bachelor of Science in Hotel Management programme. Mr. Oscar Man Cheng Ho, Lecturer of the Faculty of Innovative Hospitality Management, is coaching the team. To prepare the team for the first round of competition in Hong Kong SAR, China in March. Mr. Ho has invited Mr. Adolphus Foo, founder of SommAsia Education and Consulting company and a seasoned hospitality professional with over 30 years of experience in the Food & Beverage industry as Sommelier and Director of Beverage in renowned hotel establishments in Macau, Singapore, and Malaysia, to provide training to the students on Bordeaux wine knowledge.
