Students from the Master of Science in International Events Management programme participated in a visit to the “Melodious Music of Ruins of St. Paul's” Lantern Festival Concert. The event incorporated elements of Hanfu, connecting it with the Macao Museum's exhibition on the Zhou, Qin, Han, and Tang Dynasties.
Led by Assistant Professor, course facilitator of the MICE501 Events and Society, Dr Veronica Lam attended the concert performed by Macao Orchestra and Macao Chinese Orchestra at the Ruins of St. Paul’s with the students. The group later visited the Macao Museum and participated in “An Evening of Glamorous Costumes” series, an event hosted at the Fortress Garden. During these visits, the students actively engaged with one another and participated in fruitful interactions. Guided by tasks assigned by their professor, they observed the activities and reflected deeply on their event experience.
The visit allowed students to appreciate the efforts of the event organisers in promoting Chinese culture and connecting local cultural initiatives involving the public and tourists. It also provided them with a comprehensive understanding of event organization and its social implications. By linking classroom theories with real-world practices, the students gained valuable insights into the industry. UTM is dedicated to bring the classroom to the society to encourage students apply their knowledge in practical settings.
