UTM Students Competed In The Left Bank Bordeaux Cup

On March 19, three Macao University of Tourism (UTM) students competed in The Left Bank Bordeaux Cup (LBBC) Asia regional competition in Hong Kong, China. LBBC is an international student competition for universities around the world. Among the 10 teams competing in the LBBC Asia regional competition, the UTM team is the first team representing Macao, China since LBBC inaugurated in 2002. Participants competed on Bordeaux wine knowledge and blind tasting skills under the panel of judges from renowned Bordeaux wine estates and the esteemed Consul General of France in Hong Kong and Macau Christile Drulhe.

All members of the UTM team are from the Wine Appreciation Club, an affiliate of the UTM Student Union, including President Diana Shiwen Zeng from the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Event Management programme, Vice President Rain Kuan Fu Wong and Alan Guanhong Pan from the Bachelor of Science in Hotel Management programme. Mr. Oscar Man Cheng Ho, Lecturer of the Faculty of Innovative Hospitality Management is the official coach of the team training the students on Bordeaux wine knowledge, blind tasting skills and competition simulations in the past three months. Although the team is not able to promote to the finals, all team members expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to compete with top universities from Hong Kong, China and Singapore which expanded their international horizons. At the same time, they look forward to representing UTM in the competition again next year.
