Macao University of Tourism Students Visited “Connect Marketplace Hong Kong” to Deepen Industry-Academia Collaboration

On March 20, Macao University of Tourism organized a student tour to the "Connect Marketplace Hong Kong (CMHK)".  Held at the Hong Kong AsiaWorld-Expo, CMHK featured with an integrated format of "Conference + Seminar + Exhibition". The event brought together MICE and business travel enterprises and professionals from over 30 countries and regions, creating new opportunities for global MICE industry collaboration and growth.

Led by Assistant Professor Dr Sherry Tan, the delegation included 59 postgraduate and undergraduate students from the MSc in International Event Management and BSc in Tourism Event Management programmes. The organizer arranged a special lecture on "Corporate Travel and MICE Market Development," sharing practical insights on MICE operations and the latest trends. Industry experts also hosted seminars covering topics such as green MICE certification, sustainable development, and AI applications. In addition, Elaine Wong, Director of Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute of Macao SAR also engaged in interactive exchanges with students, sharing an overview of MICE activities in Macao, as well as new developments in the exhibition industry across the Greater Bay Area, especially the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.

Through interactions with exhibitors and delegates from various countries, students earned deeper understanding on cultural differences and business opportunities in cross-border event planning. MICE industry is a highly practice-oriented field. Through this visit, students have gained better understanding of the MICE industry and broadened their global perspectives. It also strengthened academia-industry collaboration in advancing educational and professional development.
