Sands China recently organised a meticulously planned academic exchange event for the DBA students of the Macao University of Tourism (UTM) at The Londoner Macao. Presented by the Sands IR (Integrated Resort) Management Academy, the event focused on the fields of e-commerce and digital marketing, creating a valuable platform for learning and professional exchange, helping students take more solid steps in their academic and career paths.
This visit started by leading students to two different hotel room types at the Paiza Grand of The Londoner Macao, showcasing the multiple choices provided to meet the needs of different customers. With profound professional knowledge, the experienced butler provided detailed explanations onsite. The students were able to intuitively appreciate how the hotel, based on precise market insights, diversifies its strategies through thoughtfully designed room types to comprehensively meet the needs of clients with varying levels and preferences. Throughout the tour, the students showed great interest, actively engaging with the concierge and asking a series of in-depth questions about room design concepts and service details, demonstrating their strong desire to explore hotel operations and customer demand matching strategies.
Following this, under the guidance of staff, the students ventured into the backstage area of The Londoner Arena. This space, typically inaccessible, opened its doors to the students for this occasion. They had the opportunity to closely inspect advanced equipment and facilities behind the stage, including cutting-edge sound systems, high-tech lighting control consoles, and precision stage machinery. During the tour, the staff provided in-depth explanations of the equipment’s operational principles, daily maintenance processes, and applications in various performance scenarios, allowing the students to gain a deeper understanding of the many details behind the operation of the performance venue and a more comprehensive view of the operational models of large cultural entertainment spaces.
After the internal tour, an exciting sharing session commenced. Mr. Allan Chung, Vice President of E-commerce and Digital Marketing for Sands China Ltd., attended the event to present a rich and informative session for the students. Mr. Chung shared insights on marketing strategies based on corporate characteristics, analyzing how Sands China deeply explores its brand features and skillfully utilizes online resources for effective promotion. Using specific case studies, he explained how to accurately target audiences in online marketing campaigns, design attractive marketing content, and implement multi-channel integrated marketing strategies to successfully enhance brand awareness and market share. Mr. Chung’s presentation offered students cutting-edge concepts and innovative methods in digital marketing, providing them with a fresh and in-depth understanding of the field.
During the interactive Q&A session, the students displayed high enthusiasm and actively asked questions. Their inquiries covered various aspects, including the algorithms behind social media applications, strategies for the hotel’s international market expansion, customer relationship management in digital marketing, and the prospects of emerging technologies in e-commerce. The questions not only reflected their flexible application of theoretical knowledge but also showcased their close attention to and deep thinking about industry trends. Mr. Chung patiently and professionally answered each question, fostering a lively atmosphere of interaction.
The event received high praise from the students. Many expressed that the event allowed them to encounter valuable industry knowledge and practical experience in a real business setting, bridging the gap between theoretical learning and practical application. Through face-to-face interactions with industry veterans, they not only deepened their understanding of professional knowledge but also broadened their horizons for future academic research and career development. The successful organization of this event has also laid a solid foundation for both parties to engage in deeper and broader cooperation in the future, with hopes of jointly nurturing more outstanding talents for the tourism and related industries.
