2025 MIECF – Taking students from the classroom to the exhibition hall

Second year students of the BSc Tourism Event Management programme participated in a field trip to The Venetian Macao Cotai Expo on Friday, 28 March 2025, accompanied by the course instructor Dr Ubaldino Couto, Assistant Professor of the Faculty of Innovative Hospitality Management (FIHM).

The purpose of the field trip was to consolidate the classroom learning and activities based on textbooks and theories. The visit to 2025MIECF enabled students to experience an international event firsthand, which they were able to complement well the learning in the UTM classroom. “We bring the classroom to the site by taking students to the exhibition halls to learn and experience such a significant event in Macao”, says Dr Couto. Students experienced some latest technology on show and also listened intently on the introductions by sellers at the event. They also participated actively in discussions and exchange of perspectives.

Dr Couto, also Coordinator for the Tourism Event Management programme, continues, “We thank the different partners for inviting our participation which is important in cultivating future workforce and also enhancing the industry-education collaboration”. All FIHM programmes emphasise on balancing practical training and academic education. Taking students to field trips and site visits are crucial in reaffirming classroom learning and instilling a culture of hospitality. Admissions are now open – please check out our admission page.
