UTM Students Experience GBA’s History, Culture, and Technological Achievements

On April 2, the Macao University of Tourism (UTM) hosted an event titled "Discovering the Greater Bay Area (GBA)." The initiative aimed to immerse students in the region's rich historical culture and cutting-edge technological advancements through visits, inspections, and interactive exchanges. This experience was designed to bolster students’ national pride and sense of identity while deepening their understanding of national conditions and fostering integration into the broader national development framework.

Over 80 faculty members and students from the course "Studies on National Regime and Macao SAR" embarked on a trip to Zhuhai. The itinerary included visits to AVIC GA Huanan Aircraft Industry Co., Ltd., the Zhuhai Museum, and the Zhuhai Cybersecurity and Information Technology Education and Training Base, providing in-depth insights into aviation, historical culture, and national security education. Through these visits, participants gained fresh perspectives on the rapid growth of China's aviation manufacturing industry, the profound historical and cultural heritage of the GBA, and the development trends of cyber information enterprises, as well as the collective efforts to build a national cybersecurity defense line.

Dr. Max Zhao, the group leader, and the Dean of UTM's Faculty of Creative Tourism and Intelligent Technologies, emphasized that the event was more than just a learning experience. It allowed students to witness the vast development opportunities in the GBA and ignited their enthusiasm to contribute to its growth.

A Macao student, Mr. Chan, remarked that Zhuhai's development was truly eye-opening, particularly the seamless integration of high-tech industries and tourism. This synergy, with its boundless potential, further solidified his determination to participate in the development of Macao and the GBA.

"Studies on National Regime and Macao SAR" is a mandatory first-year course at UTM. The university has long prioritized combining classroom instruction with on-site learning, and consistently organize visits related to national history, and patriotic and Macao-loving education, yielding very encouraging learning outcomes. Looking ahead, UTM plans to host more such activities, offering students continuous opportunities to explore the GBA in depth and facilitating their integration into national development.
