Emma Chen and Justin Kwong, students of the Bachelor of Science in Hotel Management at the Macao University of Tourism (UTM), have embarked on an academic journey at the Swiss Hotel Management School (SHMS) through the “3+1 Dual Bachelor's Degree Programme.” Due to their outstanding performance during their studies abroad, both students were recently distinguished with the title of “Student of the Month” for November by SHMS.
The award is designed to recognise students for exceptional achievements in both academic and professional realms. During their time in Switzerland, Emma and Justin have demonstrated a rigorous attitude towards learning and a relentless pursuit of professional excellence. Their impeccable conduct and continuous academic progress have led them to be regarded as role models by the SHMS faculty, who highly acknowledge their potential within the industry.
Upon receiving the accolade, the students expressed their joy, stating “We are truly honoured to receive this recognition from SHMS; it is of great significance to us. This honour serves not only as an affirmation of our past efforts but also as a powerful motivation to drive us forward on our academic path.”
Reflecting on this unique study arrangement, which combines the solid foundation from UTM with the international perspective of SHMS, the students highlighted the valuable opportunity for advanced studies. They expressed special gratitude to their alma mater, “We are sincerely grateful to UTM for providing such a vast international platform, allowing us the opportunity to further our studies at one of the world's top hospitality institutions.”
Looking to the future, Emma and Justin are determined to uphold their spirit of inquiry and make the most of their time in Switzerland. “We will take this award as an incentive to continue working hard, striving for further achievements to enrich our portfolios, and accumulating competitive experience for our future careers,” they added.
