A very Aussie guest lecture on Down Under

Dr Anna Kwek, Associate Professor and Director (International) at Griffith Business School and Jennifer Zhang, Regional Marketing Director (Greater China) visited UTM recently to strengthen the relations and explore collaborations between our universities. The Faculty of Innovative Hospitality Management also hosted the esteemed representatives from Griffith University (GU) for a guest lecture to students on living, studying and working in Australia.

In the guest lecture, students were introduced to the features of Australia being a premier tourism destination, particularly Brisbane which is hosting the 2032 Summer Olympic Games. Dr Kwek outlined the development of the different economic sectors in attracting visitors, particularly for business events and leisure. During the sharing, the GU representations also talked about the attractive points about living and working in Australia, including excellent transport links and an infinite list of incredible things to do.

The guest lecture was attended by freshmen of the BSc in Hotel Management and BSc in Tourism Event Management programmes, Dr Clara Lei, Dean of the Faculty of Innovative Hospitality Management and faculty members, as well as Louisa Lam, Registrar and administrative staff from the Pedagogic Affairs Department. The UTM and GU reps discussed about enhancing current collaborations in teaching and research, and explored potential new projects to enrich students' learning experience.

On the sideline of the visit, the GU reps also introduced to the students the upcoming dual bachelor's degree programme between UTM and GU whereby students earn a GU's Bachelor of Business degree and a UTM's BSc in Hotel Management or BSc in Tourism Event Management. More information about this will be announced soon.
