An in-depth wine education event titled "Unlocking Chinese Wine: An In-Depth Tasting of Grace Vineyard" was successfully held on 20 April 2026 at the Macao University of Tourism (UTM). The event convened wine professionals, students, faculty members, and enthusiasts to explore the evolution and growing excellence of modern Chinese fine wine.
The session spotlighted Grace Vineyard, one of China's most influential boutique wineries. Founded in 1997 in Shanxi, Grace Vineyard is widely regarded as a benchmark of contemporary Chinese winemaking, celebrated for its terroir-driven philosophy, elegant style, and international perspective.
Participants joined a professionally guided tasting featuring five wines from Grace Vineyard's portfolio, including one sparkling wine and four red wines. A key highlight of the evening was the tasting of Deep Blue, the winery's flagship Bordeaux-style blend. Recognized as one of the most iconic examples of Chinese fine wine, Deep Blue has previously been served in international airline first and business class cabins, underscoring its global recognition.
The tasting was led by Mr. Fengyi Su, a wine educator and sommelier from Nanning, Guangxi, who holds a WSET Diploma and a Master's degree in Wine Management from Burgundy School of Business, France. As an alumnus of UTM, Mr. Su shared professional insights into winemaking practices, stylistic expression, and the positioning of Chinese wines within the international market.
The event was organized by UTM Lecturer Mr. Oscar Man Cheng Ho from the Faculty of Innovative Hospitality Management (FIHM), reflecting UTM's continued commitment to experiential learning and industry engagement through thoughtfully curated academic and professional initiatives. The session fostered active discussion on the rising global recognition of Chinese wines and offered participants a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of China's fine wine potential through expert-led tasting and dialogue.
This event was proudly sponsored by Grace Vineyard. The organizer expressed sincere appreciation to the winery for its generous support and for its contribution to wine education and cultural exchange.
