Students from Macao University of Tourism Engage in Real-World Consultancy with Local Restaurants

Fourth-year students from the Culinary Arts Management Bachelor degree program at the Macao University of Tourism recently participated in an exciting, hands-on learning experience as part of their entrepreneurship course led by Dr. Fernando Lourenço. This unique initiative provided consultancy support to two distinctive restaurants in the São Lázaro district: Albergue 1601 and Three Sardines, both renowned for their high-quality Portuguese cuisine.

Throughout the month, 38 students were divided into six groups and explored these esteemed establishments comprehensively. Initially, they visited the restaurants for guided tours to gain an in-depth understanding of their operations. Following this, the students acted as consultants, immersing themselves in the dining experience as customers to evaluate the offerings first-hand.

The students' consultancy efforts culminated in providing valuable feedback to the restaurants. This reflective process aimed to offer crucial insights into the business operations and culinary quality, contributing to the restaurants' continuous improvement. Moreover, the experience was designed to give students learning insights into the restaurant business world, enhancing their understanding of the industry's complexities.

This initiative represents a fantastic opportunity for students to engage in real-world situations, experience the intricacies of business operations, and apply their academic knowledge to practical consultancy activities. Dr. Lourenço emphasizes the importance of such experiences in preparing students for future careers in the culinary and hospitality industries.
