UTM Students supporting local association in executing cultural event

This semester, students from the Macao University of Tourism (UTM) worked on innovative projects under the guidance of Dr. Fernando Lourenço, provided opportunities for students to engage in real-world situations, experience the intricacies of business operations, and apply their academic knowledge to practical situations. Students from the Marketing and Brand Management programme (市場營銷與品牌管理理學士學位) supported the "Red Boat 1866" event (紅船1866), a vibrant cultural initiative that has showcased the rich heritage of Macao. The project was a collaboration with the Macao Wu Jun Fu Yueju Opera Role Association (澳門五軍虎粵劇行當協會), funded by the Macao Government Tourism Office. The two-weekend event transformed the voyage from A-Ma Temple Pier to Coloane into a dynamic cultural showcase, featuring a parade, Cantonese opera, a cultural market, a role-playing tour, and Wing Chun martial art demonstrations. UTM students excelled in market research, digital marketing, cultural merchandise development, event execution, and design concept proposals for the 2025 event. Mr. Lei Kin Hou李健豪, the President of the Association praised the students' work, noting that their ability to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical environment contributed to the project's success and promises significant advancements in cultural tourism.
