UTM Students Won the First Prize in the China Market Research and Analysis Competition

On 18th May, the 15th China Market Research and Analysis Competition (CRA) Postgraduate Student Group and International Students Group national final competition, hosted by the Commerce Statistical Society of China (CSSC), titled by the Chia Tai Group, and organised by Guizhou University, came to an end officially at Guizhou University. A total of 1,184 colleges and universities and 342,000 students registered for the 15th CRA. Among them, 589 universities participated in the postgraduate and international student groups. After 7 months, 301 teams from 183 universities came to the final competition, where they competed fiercely in Guizhou University, focusing on the hot spots of the society and the key problems of the industry, and competing for the awards.

A team of three students from Macao University of Tourism made it to the final. The final round of the competition for the postgraduate and international student groups was held in a combination of presentation and defence. After the group competition on 17th May, under the leadership and guidance of Dr Sonny Su Qinglang, the Macao University of Tourism team finally won the first prize in the finals. The competition team consisted of team leader Eden Huang Guangzheng, and graduates Vicky Yu Haochen and Steven Yu Zhiyi.

The main theme of this entry is the evolution of the city's economy and the transformation of the tourism structure since the handover of Macau, and it comprehensively analyses the key trends of Macau's gaming, cultural tourism, changes in tourists, and consumption structure over the past 20 years. Based on Macao's official statistics, the team systematically constructed a multi-dimensional data analysis framework, and used trend analysis, cluster analysis and logical regression to explore the relationship between the stratification of tourist structure, per capita consumption differences and policy orientation, and put forward suggestions for optimising the future development of Macao's tourism.

As a professional event that guides students to practice and innovation, the CRA has a positive role in promoting the combination of theory and practice among university students, cultivating market acumen and sense of social responsibility, and enhancing the spirit of teamwork and enthusiasm for innovation and entrepreneurship. The competition is not only a showcase of academic achievements, but also a practice ground for young students to transform theory into practice. The competition places importance on the participating students to show their professional depth while also demonstrating their enthusiasm and wisdom to change business and benefit the society.

Macao University of Tourism attaches great importance to this competition and provides all-round support and protection for the participating students. The participating team members said that the competition not only enhanced their professional skills, but also broadened their horizons, and they also gained a lot from the opportunity to compete with students from outstanding universities across the country. The excellent performance of UTM team fully demonstrated the excellent teaching quality and practice-oriented education concept of UTM, which won honour for UTM and Macao.
