The Macao University of Tourism team stood out among numerous competitors at the "Lingxiu ChuangXiang" Roadshow Competition on December 29, 2024, winning the "Creative Exploration Award" for their project, "Time-Space Bridge: Building a Premium Study Tourism Base at Macao University of Tourism." This marks another achievement for the university’s students following their success at the "Second Asian Cultural Heritage Youth Forum," further highlighting the impact of the education of Macao University of Tourism through innovative practices.
The team members—Zhu Zimeng, Liu Chenyu, and Nie Fei (listed in no particular order)—are second-year students in the Bachelor of Science in Cultural and Heritage Management programme. Under the guidance of Dr. Veronica Lam, they advanced to the finals and earned high acclaim from the judges. The project aims to establish a "national-level, international research base" driven by a dual "tourism + education" model, covering six innovative directions. The judges particularly highlighted the programme's combination of an international perspective with in-depth market insights. Using culture as a bridge, the project breaks the traditional framework of study tours, especially with precise and profound insights into the demands of the study tour market for primary and secondary school students.
The "Time-Space Bridge Plan" not only combines "cultural awareness" with "practical innovation" but also introduces a novel framework for cultural-educational collaboration. Under the Belt and Road Initiative, students actively explore a model for synergy in cultural tourism education within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
This honor further validates the feasibility of university’s "industry demand-driven integration of teaching and research." Moving forward, students will benefit from the university’s strategic partnerships with organizations in the Greater Bay Area and international cultural tourism institutions to cultivate globally competitive, cross-disciplinary talent in the field.
