Attend the Special Lecture of "Constitution and Basic Law", co-organized by the Education and Youth Development Bureau and the Legal Affairs Bureau
The subject "National Systems and the Macao Special Administrative Region" is a compulsory one established by the Macao University of Tourism (UTM) to help students gain an in-depth understanding of Macao's history, legal framework, and the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). It encourages students to stay informed about national development and major strategies, guiding them to become proactive young individuals who actively contribute to the nation's progress. The 2025/26 academic year marks the third year of this subject. Building on the past two years of organizing site visits for students, the teaching team has expanded the scope and content of experiential learning, taking students beyond the classroom to deepen their understanding of national policies, the significance of the "One Country, Two Systems" principle, the Belt and Road Initiative, and the latest advancements in the GBA, including technology, manufacturing, and national security laws. This academic year, approximately 1,200 student participations were recorded across various activities, demonstrating significant educational outcomes.
In March 2025, UTM hosted the "National Two Sessions Spirit Sharing Session," inviting a National People's Congress (NPC) deputy and several Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) members from the Macao SAR as guest speakers. They discussed key topics from this year's Two Sessions, such as cutting-edge technology, innovation and entrepreneurship, and educational development, encouraging students to align their personal growth with national priorities and become responsible young leaders who can help tell China's story. Around 80 students from the Subject attended the session, which received enthusiastic feedback. Many students expressed that the speakers' insights gave them a deeper understanding of national strategies and a clearer sense of their responsibilities as the younger generation. In the same month, the Special Lecture of "Constitution and Basic Law", co-organized by the Education and Youth Development Bureau and the Legal Affairs Bureau, was held at UTM. Approximately 50 faculty members and students of this Subject attended. After the lecture, the students expressed that it had deepened their understanding of the significance of these two laws for the development of the country and the Macao SAR. They also expressed their hope for more similar academic activities in the future.
In April, with the support of Zhuhai authorities and UTM's Global Centre for Tourism Education and Training, a one-day study tour in Zhuhai was organized for approximately 70 students. They visited AVIC General Aircraft South China Aircraft Industry Co., Ltd., the Zhuhai Museum, and the Zhuhai Cyberspace and Information Security Education Base, gaining firsthand knowledge about the aviation industry, historical culture, and national security education. The on-site visits and explanations provided students with a tangible understanding of the nation's rapid development and the vast opportunities within the Greater Bay Area.
While actively expanding new study programs, the Subject has retained its original museum visits in Macao. In addition to the Macao Museum and the Base da Educação do Amor pela Pátria e por Macau para Jovens, the itinerary now includes the Poly MGM Museum, allowing students to explore the unique aesthetics and profound heritage of Chinese civilization through art and culture, fostering cultural confidence.
Looking ahead, the teaching team of the Subject will further expand relevant activities, incorporating more diverse formats and organizing visits to additional locations in GBA that showcase historical, cultural, and technological advancements. The goal is to cultivate a new generation of talent with both global perspectives and a strong sense of national identity.
