A group of second-year Bachelor of Science in Tourism Business Management students, guided by Assistant Professor Dr Frances Kong and Ms Alison Lau, visited the world-class wellness and leisure facilities of Studio City Macao. The purpose of this visit was to offer students essential insights into the operations of various entertainment venues while emphasising the significance of importance of company culture amongst employees.
The visit began with an introduction by Ms Melissa Chung, the Executive Director of Leisure and Spa, who highlighted the resort’s entertainment offerings. Following this, students attended a multi-departmental briefing detailing the features and staffing of different facilities. They can understand the events such as 'Moon Through Autumn Night', which showcased a 1,000-drone performance during the Mid-Autumn festival, as well as collaborations with renowned IPs such as Sanrio, Toy Story, and Old Master Q to create engaging experiences at Studio City.
Furthermore, Ms Jackie Lai and Mr Nathan Wong, both Managers of Events and Operations and Macao University of Tourism (UTM) alumni, provided students with in-depth insights into the Event Centre's logistics. They showcased past performances like TWS from Korea and Joey Yung’s Residency Concert Series.
During the visit, students experienced Studio City’s space-themed indoor waterpark, which is maintained at a year-round temperature of 30 degrees Celsius. This facility boasts 16 remarkable attractions, including Macao’s only indoor surfing simulator called the “Space Surfer.” Furthermore, students visited the Super Fun Zone—a four-level playground accommodating up to 500 visitors—with five unique themes. Jackie and Nathan also offered an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the Event Centre's operation and equipment used for concerts. Lastly, the students visited Studio City’s Sk8te Park. Aside from the impressive 1,200-square-metre rooftop skate park, they were given a spectacular view of the Iconic Golden Reel.
To conclude this visit, Melissa kindly presented each student with tickets to both the Water Park and The Golden Reel, as well as a movie ticket redemption voucher. This opportunity allowed students to experience these attractions firsthand, enhancing their understanding of service standards at Studio City Macao and enriching their practical knowledge in the tourism sector.
