Students from Macao University of Tourism delivered an outstanding performance at the Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Regional Selection of the "20th National College Student Culture, Tourism and MICE Innovation, and Entrepreneurship Competition." Under the guidance of supervising lecturers (Steven) Zhao Zhehao and (Jasmine) Chen Simin, they won multiple awards, including a First Prize, across the Cultural and Creative Design, Tourism, and MICE & Hotel categories.
The event was hosted by the Faculty of International Tourism and Management and the Faculty of Innovation and Design of City University of Macau. It featured three tracks — "Cultural and Creative Design," "Tourism," and "MICE & Hotel" — and attracted 37 teams comprising 154 students from 11 higher education institutions across Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas regions. The National College Student Culture, Tourism and MICE Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition is jointly organised by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Commercial Sub-Council, the China Chamber of International Commerce Commercial Chamber, and the China Society of Business Economics. It is worth noting that all four winning teams in the Cultural and Creative Design Track are composed of undergraduate students in Cultural and Heritage Management programme. Drawing inspiration from Macao and Lingnan culture, the students transformed cultural heritage connotations into cultural and creative works that combine aesthetic value with market potential, fully demonstrating the multidisciplinary talents and cross-disciplinary competencies of the Cultural and Heritage Management programme. The achievements in the Tourism and MICE & Hotel tracks further highlight the students' solid foundation in tourism planning, brand marketing, and MICE practice.
The Cultural and Heritage Management programme at Macao University of Tourism has long been committed to participating in the implementation of UNESCO's Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (the 2005 Convention). The awarded works are a vivid practice of the spirit of this Convention, reflecting the innovative exploration of the younger generation in the protection of cultural diversity and the sustainable development of cultural industries.
