Mr. David, Wong Yuk Shan, Executive Assistant Manager of IFT Received “The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2008 – Best Easy Recipes Book”

Mr. David, Wong Yuk Shan, Executive Assistant Manager of the Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT) was presented the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2008 in the category of “Best Easy Recipes Book” in Macao region.

        The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards were founded in 1995 by Edouard Cointreau. It is a prestigious international awards and is known as the “Oscars” for the food and wine books. The objectives of the Awards are:

  • To reward and honour those who “cook with words”.
  • To help readers find the best out of all the food and wine books produced every year.
  • To help publishers with international rights to translate and distribute food and wine books.
  • To create an opportunity to access the major markets in English, German, Spanish or French for books originated in other languages.
  • To increase knowledge and respect for food and wine culture, which promotes peace.

        The jury was formed by five members with Edouard Cointreau as the chairman. The other four members are from the USA, Germany, France and Sweden with renowned reputation from the Food & Beverage and publishing industry.

        The winners in each language and country are announced in November, and are qualified for the next “Gourmand Best in the World” competition. The results will be announced in May 2009 at the annual Gala Dinner event.         IFT always encourages its staff to publish in their area of expertise. This is not only for the sake of academic purpose, but also as an additional reference source to the general public and to raise Macao’s international reputation.
