On 7 June, Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT) held the opening ceremony of the Exhibition of Works by Alan Hong and his Advertising and Graphic Design Students. From 7 June to 31 August at IFT Educational Restaurant and Team Building, the exhibition showcases the outstanding works of the instructor Mr. Alan Hong and his students who studied IFT’s Professional Diploma in Advertising Programme and Certificate in Corporate Design Programme. All interested parties are welcome to pay a visit.
Since 2010, IFT has provided Professional Diploma in Advertising Programme and Certificate in Corporate Design Programme and invited a local advertising and graphic expert Mr. Alan Hong to be the instructor. During the course, students were deeply inspired by Alan, who stimulated and encourage students to take new attempts to design creative works. This exhibition showcases works created by the IFT students who were instructed by Alan to utilise the graphic design software and master design related skills including digital and printing, brand building, visual communications, logo and visual identity design, name card and stationery design, identity communication design.
To cope with Macao SAR Government’s policy to develop and promote creative industries, IFT started to offer short and fundamental courses in this area three years ago. IFT has continuously explored courses which are up-to-date, interesting and practical for the community. Today, courses in the areas of graphic design, multimedia creative design, photography, souvenir production, floral design and many others in various levels and areas are running at IFT. In graphic design, we have certificate courses in Corporate Identity Design. Photography courses are even subdivided into commercial photography, creative photography, fine art photography, reportage photography and salon photography. In souvenir production we are offering silver clay, model production, mosaic, felt, paper artwork, accessories, etc. Recently two courses in creative studies have been launched namely Books and Layout Design and Leather Craft. Besides, IFT is going to offer a series of creative studies courses with the theme of eco-friendliness such as DIY Recycle Design Series – Floral Production and Stationery Production, which teach students how to make creative decoration and household appliances with the use of recyclable and re-usable materials.
IFT attaches importance to the career development of creative industry talents in Macao, and therefore provides systematic learning channels for people who aim to pursue their career in this field. And with the concern of lacking creative art administrative management talents in Macao, IFT has been running an Art Administration Programme for three years and has invited renowned professors from local and overseas as instructors, encouraging more local cultural and arts associations as well as industry talents to enroll in the course, and to better the atmosphere of cultural and arts development in Macao. Furthermore, in order to benefits more interested parties, this course is under the Arts and Culture Management Human Resources Training Programme of Cultural Institute, full amount of the course fee will be refunded to participants who fulfill 80% attendance and pass all assessments.
