Student Union of Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT), together with Caritas Macau, hosted a “Family Heritage Tour” today to share fun with over twenty local families. IFT Students who major in Heritage Business Management provided guide service for the tour which covered over six heritage sites. Vice President of IFT, Ms. Florence Ian, leading IFT staff and students, participated in this meaningful activity while Secretary General of Caritas Macau, Mr. Pun Chi Ming and volunteers of the association also showed their support.

Response of this “Family Heritage Tour” was overwhelming, Caritas arranged twenty single-parent families for today’s activity. Seventy persons in total were divided into three groups for the three different walking tour itineraries. IFT students provided guided tour and introduced the history of the heritages to the families. The tour started at ten o’clock in the morning, gathering point at Kun Iam Temple with shuttle bus service arranged by IFT. The tour covered Na Tcha Temple, Ruins of St. Paul’s, Lou Kau Mansion, St. Dominic’s Church, Holy House of Mercy and IACM. It took around 2.5 hours to finish.

This “Family Heritage Tour”, jointly hosted by Student Union of IFT and Macau Caritas, is one of the celebration activities of IFT’s 15th Anniversary. Wallace Ip, President of Student Union, IFT says, “This activity is a good opportunity to let our students communicate and show their care to the community. By introducing knowledge and history of the heritages, the participants could have a more in-depth understanding to this place where they grew up, and for the most important, can enjoy the fun tour with their own family. We look forward to organise more similar events in the future.”
