Ms. Joyce Wong Iok In, Director of Training & Learning Academy of Melco Resorts and Entertainment Ltd, invited by Dr, June Yang Hui Jun of Macao Institute for Tourism Studies, gave a lecture to IFTM’s daytime Hotel Management undergraduate students taking the subject of Human Resources Management on 19 October at IFTM on the benefits of hands-on experiences and talent development. Ms. Wong shared case study related to Melco Whole Person Development and introduced how to become a strategic business partner & internal performance Consultant in the hotel industry.
Ms. Wong, with profound experience in human resources and training. During the seminar, she presented the training concepts, with the focus on “whole person development”. From the perspective of human resources management, she explored how each individual may reach overall development and how the individual performance may translate into benefits to the organisation.
Ms. Wong’s talk also covered the importance of in-company training and appraisal system as they are the tools to promote internal team communication and business development. The systematic approaches have helped Melco Resorts and Entertainment to improve the allocation of human resources and optimise the organisational operation.
IFTM, which has taken experiential learning as an essential part of the academic programmes, encourages the use of varied platforms for study. Arrangements are made for students to attend regular information-sharing sessions and special talks with industry experts. These activities offer students opportunities to expand their knowledge, further their skills regarding the operations and development trends of hospitality industry, and deepen their understanding of various prospects for each sector. The feedback about the seminar has been rather positive and the students look forward to more guest lectures, in collaboration with industry partners and experts.
