Briefing for PLA on IFT’s national-flag ceremony training effort

中文摘要 / Summary in Chinese

Representatives from IFT met in October with a delegation from the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Macao Garrison, for a briefing on efforts by the Institute to train a team of students tasked with performing national flag-raising ceremonies.

The meeting took place on 26 October at the Mong-Há Campus. During the exchange, IFT President Dr. Fanny Vong, and the Head of the Technical and Academic Support Division, Mr. Antonio Chu, summarised past flag-raising training, and discussed the Institute’s first raising ceremony for the national flag, which took place on 23 August. Dr. Vong expressed her gratitude to the People’s Liberation Army for sending instructors to the Institute to train IFT’s flag-raising team.

The PLA representatives praised the work of the students and pledged to continue providing support to IFT in this field.

National flag-raising ceremonies aim to strengthen the sense of national identity among the IFT community and foster love for the country. The Institute will hold its next such event during the Graduation Ceremony 2019.

The meeting was followed by a lunch gathering, allowing members of the IFT flag-raising team to interact with the representatives from the People’s Liberation Army.
