The International Convention 2024, a global event recognised by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), successfully took place in Langfang, Hebei, in mainland China, from 16 to 18 June. The event, orchestrated by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport China (CILT China) with substantial support from the Macao Branch (CILT Macao), centred on the theme of “Leading Global Sustainable Development in Logistics and Transport”.
It focused on the development of global trade logistics and provided a platform for exchange and cooperation among industry insiders and enterprises from around the world. Over 200 experts, scholars, and industry leaders from more than 70 countries convened in Hebei to discuss cutting-edge issues and future development trends in the sector.
The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport International (CILT International) is the world’s largest and most influential professional body for logistics and transport. Established in the United Kingdom in 1919, the organisation was granted the Royal Charter in 1926. With branches in over 30 countries and regions and more than 33,000 members worldwide, CILT International includes professionals across various levels and sectors of logistics and transport.
The Macao Branch, founded in 2014, aims to advance the development of logistics and transport in Macao and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It promotes industry exchange and cooperation through professional activities, training, and seminars, consciously enhancing the regional logistics and transport industry.
The Convention received significant support from CILT Macao. A dedicated team was formed to liaise with CILT China, consisting of: Mr. Alfred Ng, the current President of CILT Macao; Dr. Michael Lam, Chairman of the Administrative Council, CILT Macao; Dr. Jieqi Guan, the Secretary-General, Mr. Yang Zhuang, an alumnus graduated from the Faculty of Innovative Hospitality Management (FIHM) at Macao University of Tourism (UTM); and Ms. Xintong Lu, a current PhD student of UTM.
They led consistent efforts in external communications, guest invitations, and event promotion over a span of two months. The team maintained close contact with CILT members and global delegates worldwide through various communication channels, assisting them with registration and payment, accommodation arrangements, and visa applications, providing prompt and effective solutions to any challenges encountered.
Ms. Xintong Lu and another FIHM alumnus, Mr. Yifan Li, travelled to Langfang to manage on-site reception, guidance, and translation services during the conference. The UTM alumnus and student demonstrated exceptional insight, dedication, and professionalism throughout the preparation and execution of the event, earning widespread acclaim. Their outstanding performance reflects the Macao SAR Government’s constant efforts in encouraging student participation in practical experiences, continuously accumulating industry expertise and fostering their professional capabilities.
