Programme Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Management and Data Science is an innovative interdisciplinary programme that prepares students to become business professionals with data-analytic thinking and leadership in the data-driven economy. This programme combines a strong foundation in data science—covering statistics, mathematics, coding, and machine learning—with a practical understanding of business principles and real-world applications.
Students will learn to collect, analyse, and interpret large and complex datasets, develop predictive models, and communicate actionable insights to support organisational decision-making. The curriculum emphasises hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and technologies, and it includes an internship plus an opportunity of opting for a capstone project or a thesis.
Graduates will be uniquely equipped to bridge the gap between data science and business strategy, making them highly competitive for careers in fields in tourism, hospitality, consulting, e-business, and beyond. The programme also emphasises both hard skills (programming, mathematics, problem-solving) and soft skills (communication, teamwork, ethical and social implications). Graduates are prepared for roles such as business data analyst, business intelligence analyst, system analyst, marketing analyst, financial analyst, and for further study in postgraduate programmes.
The normal duration of a BSc in Management and Data Science degree programme is 4 years, with a maximum allowed duration of 7 years. A bachelor’s degree will be awarded to students who have completed 123 credits, within the stipulated time frame of study. The proposed mediums of instruction and assessment for this degree programme are Chinese and English, with identical (but not mixed language) curricula, resulting in the same requirements for the programme structure, courses, and credits..
