Macao University of Tourism (UTM) has established exchange programmes with many international institutions, offering students short-term overseas study opportunities to experience different cultures and teaching styles. Plai (Siamlaem Papawarin), from Dusit Thani College in Thailand, came to UTM through this programme to study Culinary Arts Management.
Plai said she chose to come to Macao for exchange because she felt the culture here is quite similar to Thailand, and it was her first time visiting the city. “I have been very happy here throughout the semester, the faculty staff, my friends, and the facilities are all excellent.” She especially noted that the environment in Macao is very supportive of students’ learning, and she has met many wonderful people here.
She believes that coming to Macao for exchange is a great opportunity. “I had the chance to be a chef’s assistant at a food festival, which I was very excited about. The class activities were great as well.” She added that the kitchen equipment at UTM is modern and of very high quality, allowing her to improve her culinary skills through hands-on practice.
Regarding daily life, Plai spoke highly of Macao’s transportation, food, and friendly people. “It’s easy to travel to mainland China or Hong Kong from here. Living in Macao has made me very happy.”
For students considering an exchange at UTM, even a single semester can bring professional growth, cross-cultural friendships, and an unforgettable experience in Macao.
