IFT Chamber Music Club joins event to mark World Day of Migrants and Refugees

中文摘要 / Summary in Chinese

The IFT Chamber Music Club joined the celebrations for the 103rd World Day of Migrants and Refugees, via an event hosted at the St. Paul School.

The activity took place on 22 January. It attracted hundreds of people, including many from Southeast Asia who had come to Macao either as migrants or as refugees.

As well as giving a recital, IFT Chamber Music Club members had the opportunity to forge links with musicians and other performers from several places, including the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam.

“I was honoured to be part of such a meaningful event,” says Cherry Huang, a Tourism Event Management student at IFT and since 2015 a violinist in the Chamber Music Club.

Ensemble organiser Ms. Hilda Fok says the participation of the Chamber Music Club at such an event raises its profile in the Macao community. It also promotes a positive image of IFT and shows the diversity of the student body, she notes, adding that the ensemble aims to continue having a role in the life of the local community.
