Wini Cheong graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor degree of Science in Tourism Business Management. Cheong was working in the hospitality industry mainly in the event sales and marketing department when she was inspired to start her own business as a wedding planner.

“I chose IFT because it was different to other universities,” Cheong said, “At IFT, you can do internships at hotels or travel agencies, study culinary and join overseas exchange programmes, we even had a uniform in Year 1 which was quite special, and the entry requirements are high, so I wanted to challenge myself.”

With being a wedding planner, she said that the knowledge and skills she learnt from the course had helped greatly. “I’ve not only learnt so much more from these project, but more importantly it helped me improve my presentation and communications skills,” Cheong said, pointing out that these experiences give students basic knowledge of what to expect in the real world, and allow them to learn more quickly.
As a representative of the alumni group, Cheong said it has given her opportunities to learn different aspects and create a bridge between alumnus and the institute.

“Through organising events, alumnus and professors meet, and many alumnus have either become outstanding entrepreneurs or are taking up managerial roles in society.
