Extension of Macao Base

1. UTM – Tourism Education Collaboration Centre for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area

On 15 October 2019, IFTM, the predecessor institution of UTM, signed a framework agreement with the Zhuhai Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports and the Zhuhai Municipal Zhu Kuan Group Holding Co., Ltd. to launch the IFTM – Tourism Education Collaboration Centre for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The new centre is located in Hengqin New District. It aims to facilitate the Tourism Education and Training Base for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The three parties are committed to promoting the integration and utilisation of resources such as hospitality, vocational colleges and universities in Zhuhai, and building a training mode integrating professional courses and the practical training base.

With the renaming from IFTM into UTM, the centre is now named "UTM -– Tourism Education Collaboration Centre for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area."

2. UTM Hengqin Training Base and its Center for Vocational Practice

On 13 December 2019, IFTM signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with the Hengqin New District Management Committee on the construction of the IFTM Hengqin Training Base, which was incorporated into the management framework of the IFTM – Tourism Education Collaboration Centre for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Through the cooperation in building the IFTM Hengqin Training Base, the two sides aim to establish a benchmark for talent training of the leisure tourism industry in the Greater Bay Area, conduct talent training courses of leisure tourism, and establish tourism service standards and an international certification system for it.

In order to meet the teaching model that emphasizes both theory and practice of tourism education, Under the support of the Hengqin New District Management Committee, Sumlodol Hengqin Camping Town which has a training venue was selected as the " Macao Institute for Tourism Studies Hengqin Training Base (Center for Vocational Practice)" in December 19, 2020 in order integrate theory with practice.

The training base and the centre have been renamed as "Macao University of Tourism Hengqin Training Base" and "Macao University of Tourism Hengqin Training Base (Center for Vocational Practice)" since the renaming of UTM from its predecessor institution, IFTM, on 1 April 2024.

3. Tourism Education and Training Base for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Guangzhou Collaboration Centre)

IFTM (currently known as UTM), Guangzhou Municipal Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau and Guangzhou Lingnan International Enterprise Group cooperated to establish “Tourism Education and Training Base for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Guangzhou Collaboration Centre)” in February 2021 to facilitate the cooperation among Macao and Guangzhou government, instituitions as well as enterprises in tourism aspects.

4. Tourism Education and Training Base for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Shunde Collaboration Centre)

UTM, the Office of the Leading Group for Promoting the Construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Shunde District, Foshan City and Shunde Polytechnic jointly established “Tourism Education and Training Base for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Shunde Collaboration Centre)”. With aims to leverage the advantages of both for being the UNESCO Creative Cities of Gastronomy, and to explore the opportunity of coordinating a development system in catering industry and other tourism education fields between cities, and strengthen collaborative education.
