Overview of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area comprises the two Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macao, and the nine cities of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing in Guangdong Province (hereinafter referred to as “nine cities in the Pearl River Delta region”). The total area is 56,000 km². At the end of 2020, the total population was about 86 million. It is one of the regions with the highest degree of openness and the strongest economic vitality in China and has an important strategic position in the overall national development.
