National Flag Raising Ceremony

Graduates must put on the full set of graduation gown and arrive at the 9th Floor, East Asia Hall, Taipa Campus by 07:40 to attend the National Flag Raising Ceremony. Before the National Emblem plays, graduates HAVE TO take off the mortar boards / caps and there should be no hands clasping. Refer to the following photo for the proper posture.

Graduates must arrive at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion by 10:00 to attend the rehearsal of Graduation Ceremony.

Commencement of Graduation Ceremony
- Graduates and guests must be seated before 15:00.
- At 15:30, Members of Head Table will walk in. The assembly have to stand up.
- Take off the mortar boards / caps and remain standing when the National Anthem of People's Republic of China is playing.
- After the National Anthem, Members of Head Table will take their seats. Then the Assembly will take their seats.
- Speech by the Chief Executive of Macao SAR*
- Speech by the UTM Rector*
- Conferring of Degrees or presentation of certificates:
- Graduates will stand up when their group are called and should remain standing until the UTM Rector confers the degree by saying, "By virtue of the authority vested in me, I hereby confer upon you (degree name) of Macao University of Tourism and those in absence.”
- Upon presentation of names, graduates will (note that all left/right-hand-side directions are given as if facing the stage):
- use right-hand-side walkway, walk towards and stand on the floor mark,
- bow to the stage members,
- turn clockwise towards the Assembly, bow to the Assembly,
- leave the stage by left-hand-side walkway and back to their seats.

* During speeches, please be silent and remain seated.

Closing of Graduation Ceremony
Once the Ceremony is closed, graduates could proceed to take photos at their own interest.

Remarks:
1. Graduates who could NOT attend the Graduation Ceremony please notify us (click here) before 05 June for better arrangement.
2. The presentation of graduation certificates is a ceremony and the real graduation certificates will not be given on spot. The Pedagogic Affairs Department will notify graduates when to collect the graduation documents once the graduation eligibility has been checked.
3. Graduates and guests are recommended to take public transportation. As there are limited car park slots nearby, please allow adequate time if driving is needed.
4. UTM will arrange photographers and videographers to take photos and videos during the event. Graduation photos will be available at UTM website from 25 June to 31 July 2026. The download link will be provided via UTM email accounts. Please be informed that event photos and videos will be used on the UTM website, in press releases, promotional materials and other university publications.
5. Eating and drinking are strictly prohibited inside the venue.
