UTM Council Delegation Conducts On-site Inspection of the University Town

The Macao University of Tourism (UTM) has extended into the first-phase of the Macao-Hengqin International Education (University) Town starting from this academic year. Mr. Chan Chak Mo, Council Chair of the UTM Council recently led members of the UTM Council on an on-site inspection of the teaching facilities and living amenities, accompanied by Rector Fanny Vong Chuk Kwan, to gain a comprehensive understanding of the operational situation.

The first batch of over 200 postgraduate students will open a new chapter of cross-city learning between Macao and Hengqin. The delegation visited the teaching and office buildings, student dormitories, canteens, and sports centres, and learned in detail about campus functional planning, smart teaching facilities, and living service management.

Mr. Chan Chak Mo, Council Chair, expressed his full recognition of the hardware facilities and supporting services, believing that the campus is equipped with sound teaching and living conditions. He also voiced great expectations for UTM's extended operation in the Cooperation Zone and its prospects of nurturing high-level international talents, and expressed confidence that the university town will become an important model for the collaborative development of higher education between Macao and Hengqin.

The inspection participants included Mr. Pun Weng Kun (Executive Director of Macau International Airport Company Limited), Ms. Jennifer Si Tou Lam Lai (Deputy Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office), Mr. Carlos Roberto Xavier (Acting Deputy Director of the Education and Youth Development Bureau), and Mr. Rutger Verschuren (Vice Chairman of Macau Hotel Association). Another group of Council and Development Foundation members will also conduct a site visit on a subsequent date.
