A five-day Algarve Food Promotion, coorganised by IFT and the Macanese Gastronomy Association, is going to be held at IFT Educational Restaurant from 11 to 15 April. Chefs Natalia Maria and Ana Cristina are invited from the Algarve to cook from this region gastronomy oasis and to bring you the many delights at the Educational Restaurant.
The Algarve is in the southern most region of mainland Portugal and is renowned for its beaches, resorts and seafood. The seafood of the Algarve is plentiful and a delight for your senses and is well known by its freshness due to its close proximity to the Atlantic Ocean.
Many Algarve recipes are based around seafood such as different types of fish including sardines, octopus, cuttlefish, prawns and shellfish. Sardines are the regional dish of the Algarve, and are used in many local dishes.
Specialties for the Food Promotion include mouth watering dishes such as Sardine Salad with Parsley, Octopus Fritters, Pan fried Baby Cuttlefish with Garlic, Codfish Stew with Clams, Fish cooked in the Cataplana and for meat lovers, Oven Roasted Lamb with Oregano and Meat Stew in the Cataplana. Don’t forget the Algarve is famous for almonds so for desserts, we have on the menu scrumptious Almond and Egg Sweets, assorted Almond Tarts and Cakes, Fig and Cheese Cake and lots more.
